"Perseus" by
Benvenuto Cellini
in Florence, Italy
Perseus, one of the heroes of western mythology, is the bearer of positive values. He fights evil and builds peace and is one of those mythological heroes who freed the earth from monstrous creatures. He was the one who cut off Medusa's head, the monster who turned all those who met her gaze to stone. The hero, chased by the Gorgons, managed to escape by flying away with his winged shoes. During his return trip he met Andromeda, the daughter of Cepheus and Cassiopeia, imprisoned by a sea monster, whom he freed and made his wife.
